There are travel warnings for a lot of areas in Mexico due to crime and cartel violence. However, Mazatlán is a very safe city for tourists. Violent crime is almost non-existent, and even on the rare occasions that it does occur, tourists are literally never targeted ever unless they are buying nose beers.
